Admissions Procedure

Pupils generally enter Mayfield into our Pre Nursery at the beginning of the Autumn Term (September) and the Spring Term (January) at the age of 2+.  They then progress to Nursery where they complete three full terms before moving into Main School.  Sometimes however, places may become available in other year groups, allowing entry to the school throughout the academic year.  Below is a guide to our general admissions procedure.  If you have any further questions, please contact the School Office whose details you can find at the bottom of this page.

Admission into Pre Nursery

1. The school is contacted to make an initial enquiry about a child's entry into Mayfield.  This can be done by contacting our School Office directly or by filling in an Admissions Enquiry Form online.  The child's name will then be added to the enquiry register.
2. Parents will be contacted in the year of their child's second birthday, with an invitation to attend a Pre Nursery and Nursery open day.
3. Parents are then contacted inviting them to apply for a place.  Once the application form has been returned, a place will be allocated (15 in September, 5 in January, 20 in total).  Unsuccessful applicants are placed on a waiting list if they indicate that they wish to do so.

Priority is given to siblings of children already in the school.  Otherwise, no preference is given provided the above has been observed.

Admission into Early Years Foundation Stage (throughout the academic year)

1. The school is contacted to make an initial enquiry about a child's entry into Mayfield.  This can be done by contacting our School Office directly or by filling in an Admissions Enquiry Form online.  The child's name will then be added to the enquiry register.
2. An appointment will be made with the Head Teacher.  During this appointment, parents and children will be given a short tour of the school.
3. Parents will be contacted with an official offer of a place, subject to availability and a satisfactory meeting with the Head Teacher.

Admission into Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 (Year 1 to Year 6 throughout the academic year)

1. The school is contacted to make an initial enquiry about a child's entry into Mayfield.  This can be done by contacting our School Office directly or by filling in an Admissions Enquiry Form online.  The child's name will then be added to the enquiry register.
2. The child will be required to attend a trial day during which English and Mathematics assessments will be made.  The day will be spent with children of the appropriate academic year.
3. Parents will be contacted with an official offer of a place, subject to satisfactory performance in the assessments and following a short interview with the Head Teacher.

On the offer of a place, parents are requested to complete an application form and forward a registration fee of £100.00 (£75.00 of which will be deducted from the first term's fees) in order to confirm the place.

The child is accepted as a pupil at the School when the parent is notified to that effect.
