Mayfield Runners compete in the Hallfield Cross Country Invitational

On the morning of Saturday 11th March 2017 at 9.00am, Mayfield runners and teachers met at School to travel by coach to Hallfield School.

The course was quite challenging with a couple of climbs and a section through the woods.

The first race was the under nine girl’s race. The Mayfield team was Aneesa, Aisha, Muneet, Serena, Isha and Grace. Our best finishers were Aneesa (20th) and Aisha (22nd) in a race of 40 girls.

Next was the under nine boy’s race, our team was Jeevan, Zayan, Sevak, Yuvraj, Ben and Tuneesh. The race started very fast. The boys all ran their very best and our best finisher was Jeevan in 23rd position.

The third race of the morning was the Under Eleven Girls with Nikki, Zahra R, Olivia and Nandhika. The two lap course was tough. Nandhika did very well to secure 20th place.

The Under Eleven boys had been waiting a long time for their run and our team of Ryan, Jaiden, Ranveer, Prnay, Alfie and Maanav were all eager to start their race. Ryan was the first Mayfield boy home in 27th and Ranveer finished 28th.

Although the races had been tough and some people felt a bit ill afterwards everyone had a good time and we all enjoyed the hot dogs at the end.

We all gathered round the Sports Pavilion for the presentation before travelling back to Mayfield.

Thank you to all the runners for putting in a great effort.

A big ‘Thank you’ also, to Parents and Teachers for their much appreciated support.
