SUNDAY TIMES LEAGUE TABLES 2017
Dear Parents,
The Sunday Times League Tables Top 100 Prep Schools was published yesterday on 19th November 2017. The ranking in the League Tables is based on the aggregated average scaled scores achieved in reading, grammar and mathematics from Key Stage 2 SATs taken by Lower III pupils in 2016. Last year, the school was ranked 51 and I confidently predicted at the time that the school would rise in the rankings this year. I could not foresee, however, how high that rise would be, as Mayfield Preparatory School has reached our highest ever ranking of 17, our seventh successive year in the Sunday Times League Tables Top 100 Prep Schools! As there are over 2,600 independent schools in the United Kingdom, this is a remarkable achievement! This shows that Mayfield continues to be one of the top prep schools in the Midlands and the country! Great news for a Monday morning!
While this is a huge fillip for the whole school community, the league tables tell only a fraction of the story. This is a culmination of the top class education the children have received from the moment they set foot in Mayfield and every member of staff from Pre-Nursery to Lower III, including the administration and maintenance staff, and with the support of the governors and parents, have contributed to the huge success of the school. The league tables also do not include a measure of the amazing experience the children enjoy at Mayfield, not just academically but also in sport, ICT, music, drama, languages, the arts, the solid foundation in the Early Years, the quality of the pastoral care, the individual attention each child receives, how each child is valued as an individual and how closely everyone knits together as a team in this lovely, family environment.
My congratulations go to the pupils and all the hardworking staff at the school, who ensure that the high standards at Mayfield are being maintained and improved upon year after year. Let’s enjoy our success, let’s shout it from the rooftops and let’s all be proud of being a part of this great school!
