Learning about the Anglo-Saxons

Children in Lower II and Form II were lucky enough to have a visit from Mr Jonathan Davies who is the Living History teacher from King Edwards School, he came in to talk to the children about the Anglo-Saxons. Each class took part in a one hour workshop. Children were looking at pictures of men, women and children whose bodies had been buried during the Anglo-Saxon times. Children were able to identify items which had been buried with the people, this stimulated discussion as to why those items in particular were found alongside the bodies. This got children thinking about what the items were and why they were significant to the different people. Mr Davies brought a variety of items which children could look at. Children thoroughly enjoyed participating in lots of discussion which helped them to widen their knowledge and understanding of events during the Anglo-Saxon times.
